The Central Valley Brewer's Guild is a like-minded collection of homebrewers in California's Central Valley. Members range from veteran brewers who've brewed for years to those just starting out in the hobby. The Guild is committed to promoting the art of homebrewing, with an emphasis on assisting those just starting homebrewing, offering an extensive knowledge base to ensure the success of early brewing sessions.
The Central Valley Brewer's Guild, an AHA sanctioned club, is committed to increasing the awareness of homebrewing, widening the knowledge of the variety of styles of beer, brewing for local and national competitions, attending beer events, as well as sponsoring a variety of beer events. Membership in the Central Valley Brewer's Guild carries certain responsibilities. All Central Valley Brewer's Guild members must be 21 years of age. The Central Valley Brewer's Guild intends to provide a fun, educational and safe atmosphere for its members during gatherings and events. This responsibility also carries over to each individual member. Since beer, an alcoholic beverage, is a key ingredient at most Central Valley Brewer's Guild events, consumption of alcohol in a responsible manner is mandatory for all members who choose to ingest beer, as well as other alcoholic beverages, at Central Valley Brewer's Guild events. Guild members should always remember that they represent the Central Valley Brewer's Guild in public. |
The second CVBG gathering at Sociables shows the Central Valley Brewers Guild continuing to grow. We had 17 guildies in attendance and a good time was had by all. Wade shuttled a couple new guildies to the gathering and hopefully we'll see Tim and Jayson again. Mark demoed his brewhouse, showed how to rack ale from a carboy to a keg using C02 to push the beer, and also showed how to break down a keg and replace all of the rubber o-rings. Finally, a commercial and homebrewed profile of IPAs was enjoyed by all. The July Central Valley Brewer's Guild gathering on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 6:30 p.m, will be held at Wade's home in Merced. Please check the Central Valley Brewers Guild forums, under the Guild Business/Monthly Guild Gatherings topic for more information in the coming weeks. You'll need to be a registered/logged in forum user to see the Google Maps link to Wade's place. |

The first CVBG gathering at the Brew Barn was a huge success! We had 14 guildies in attendance and a good time was had by all. Homebrew and mead flowed freely and several toasts to the guild were raised. The second general Central Valley Brewer's Guild gathering will be held at the Sociables (Mark's pub) on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. Please check the Central Valley Brewers Guild forums, under the Guild Business/Monthly Guild Gatherings topic for more information in the coming weeks. |

If you've clicked around at all here, you've noticed that many of the links either go nowhere, or link to sample data for the web site software we're using. Many, if not all, of the links will be active in the coming days. The CVBG WebMaster is experiencing a steep learning curve for the new system, so just getting stuff to post in the proper place is currently a challenge! The data part is easy - at this point it is just finding the time necessary to get everything updated. Stay tuned, Guildies! |
